Artist Jörg Döring (1965) seems obsessed with American culture, in which everything revolves around fame, beauty and social success, but also in the tragedy that inevitably comes with it. His best-known work is a series of paintings of Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck. Among these works are some close-ups on huge formats. They are the American dream in its most condensed form, summed up in a cartoon figure. In Jörg Döring's paintings they are depicted with a German sense of drama, in bright colors and with heavy shadows.
